Sometime I forget our school is in the Midwest

and then I remember that an a cappella group wrote a song in 1968 about our fucking historic cornfield and they still perform it.

pray4meplz asked: AHHH I saw you messaged my friend! Im so excited for T fest! I cant wait!

As someone who went to high school in a state that doesn’t do anything like Theatrefest, I’m still mystified by it, but it’s a good time and you guys seem to get a lot out of it. (And I’m getting real paid this time, so I ain’t mad)

Anyone else gonna be there?

And away we go! So excited to get back to my apartment and my Urbana family.
Also I got less than 3 hours of sleep.
This should go well.

My Facebook news feed is full of people heading back to Urbana.

And I’m not leaving for another week and a half.

I just want to get into shenanigans with my friends and watch television and go for walks and generally mess around.

You know, until school starts. And then in rehearsals/meetings/tech/performances for forever. With some classes thrown in.

Do any of my followers (other than the ones I know in real life) go to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

Me! Hi!

YOU GUYS

my advisor/Chair of stage management/Chair of Level21 (she’s a lot of things) just sent out revised production assignments for next year.

and AHH I’m stage managing!

I’ll be the stage manager for this really interesting play “No Child…”. I don’t know much about it, but I know we’re adapting it from a one-woman show to an ensemble piece (oh look, another show with actors playing multiple characters. Right up my alley). It’s going to tour locally after it performs at our space, but I’m not going to be the touring stage manager (which is a-ok with me).

The downsides are I think I have to come back earlier from winter break, which means I might not be able to work as much of TheatreFest as I had planned too. The tech/performance week is also the same week as the first week of rehearsal for Spring Awakening, but it’s most likely going to be music rehearsals, since that’s how that music director works. I’m fine with that.

I’m still ASMing Dracula in October, but they took me off of February Dance, since it conflicts.

Ahh I’m so excited.

Watching the first episode of The Glee Project.

I’m not a Glee fan.

But I am SO PROUD of Charlie.

He deserves all the good coming to him.

UIUC Theatre Department represent!

Chuck is the sweetest, goofiest, most genuine kid.

I’ll be watching for him, because damn I miss hanging out with him.

Heyyy! That’s me. And I’m in rehearsal. But I’m an ASM, and this is Summer Studio. So let’s take a picture!
So in the morning I have rehearsal for Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself) and it’s great. It’s a short, three person show. One character plays Louis, while two players play dozens of roles each. It’s really a funny story, and the director and actors are doing fanfuckingtabulous jobs.
It’s just a TON of work. I’ve never worked on a show with more props. And there are no entrances or exits, all three actors are always onstage with all the props. DON’T FUCK UP THE PRESETS! And each of the players is going to have just as many small costume pieces. It’ll be an accomplishment, but damn, it’s going to be hard.
And in the evening I’m stage manager for Gone Missing, a musical by The Civilians, based on interviews of random people in New York about things they’ve lost and found, conducted by the original cast. It’s an interesting musical. When I heard the cast recording, I thought I’d die. It was…mehhhhh.
But our director and music director somehow cast people in the roles that actually sound 100x better than the cast recording. And then there’s the whole part where my boyfriend is the choreographer, and he’s so smart and amazing and is shaping this show up so freaking well, and can I say, I’ve never set my eyes on a prettier guy while I worked. Baby boy is so amazing and wonderful and I love him. =]

I <3 my ASM…I have no idea how Shipwrecked! would be happening without him.
